one-innings match.
Points system:
16 points for a win
8 points to each side for a tie
8 points to side still batting in a match in which scores finish level
Bonus points awarded in first 100 overs of first innings
Batting: 150 runs - 1 point, 200 runs - 2 points
250 runs - 3 points, 300 runs - 4 points
Bowling: 3-4 wickets - 1 point, 5-6 wickets - 2 points
7-8 wickets - 3 points, 9-10 wickets - 4 points
No bonus points awarded in a match starting with less than 8 hours' play remaining. A one-innings match is played, with the winner gaining 12 points.
Position determined by points gained. If equal, then decided on most wins.
Each team plays 24 matches.
Counties were required to bowl 19.00 overs per hour overall. Counties failing to do so incurred fines, of which the counties paid half and the players half. Each county could decide on the contribution to be made by each player to any fine. In deciding fines, the season was divided into two halves of 11 matches and fines graded per half season: under 19.00 overs per hour £1000, under 18.50 overs per hours £1500, under 18.00 overs per hour £2000, under 17.50 overs per hour £2500, an additional penalty of £500 for each 050 overs per hour below 17.50.

Gloucestershire v Sussex at Gloucester, Middlesex v Yorkshire at Lord's, both abandoned without a ball being bowled.
