Born and brought up in Barbados, George came over to Scotland as a club professional with Edibnurgh Academicals where he had two very successful years. He has now acted as club professional to the Uddingston Cricket Club for several years. During his time in Barbados George played 15 first-class matches with a top score of 75 against the England touring team. After meeting the residency qualifications he first played for Scotland in 1991 and has now gained 50 caps. He has scored no fewer than thirteen 50s and three centuries for Scotland including five 50s and one century in the Benson & Hedges Cup and NatWest Trophy Competitions. He was given the man of the match award after the 1994 NatWest Trophy match against Lancashire for an innings of 72. His highest score for Scotland is 153 not out against Transvaal university in 1992. A useful change bowler, George has taken many vital wickets for Scotland. His best bowling performance was 3 for 24 against Wales in 1993. An NCA Senior Coaching Award holder, his other sports are golf and squash.
