and there it is. Supernovas are in the final. Yadav shifts over the wicket and cramps the right-hander for room. And even though she tries to free her arms, she misses the ball and gets hit on the pad. Excellent over under immense pressure.
Supernovas vs Trailblazers, 3rd Match at Sharjah, T20 Challenge, Nov 07 2020 - Ball by Ball Commentary
That's all we have for you from commentary. Thank you for your company. Goodnight.
I played my normal game. It's a must win game and I had to score runs. I am a senior player in the side. So I just went out there and played my normal game, Player of the Match Chamari Atapattu says. I want to improve cricket all around the world so I do share my knowledge with my team-mates. I was a little worried about the last three-four overs. Finally we won, so it was all good. We are a champion side. We know how to win games.
Dinuka K: "End of the first round of Women's T20 Challenge. Highest runs, highest individual score, most number of 6s, most number of 4s, maximum 6s in an innings, best batting average etc and all the batting records of the tournament held by Chamari Atapattu "
It was very close, but hats off to our bowlers. Finally they withstood the pressure and bowled according to the field, Supernovas captain Harmanpreet Kaur says. All the girls wanted to win and it showed in the end. The way we started, we were thinking of 150+ but what we got was a defendable total because it was helping the spinners if you bowl a little short and give them singles rather than boundaries. I know this total wasn't so big. We had to bowl three good overs. Finally after a good partnership, we were able to get breakthroughs and they got us back in the game. Poonam bowled only one over because the lefties were batting. That's the only reason. Today there was not much dew. In the first game, there was a lot of dew. Today hardly any. We will try our best. After winning, our confidence is high and hope we do it again in the final
Didn't have anything running through my head. Just bowl according to the captain's plan, says Supernovas' left-arm spinner Radha Yadav about bowling that splendid last over. You have to ask her [if she is the captain's go to player] but it's my dream to play well in those situations and execute well in those situations.
Definitely. The way it went in the last two or three overs, I think the girls did really well to get us close. Nevertheless, the way Deepti and Harleen took it to the last ball, it was a great effort, says Trailblazers captain Smriti Mandhana. There was quite a bit of dew around. I saw that after the first innings. Would have been difficult for their spinners. We were looking to win the match. We really didn't think about what the qualification scenarios were. We didn't think about which team we'd play. Hopefully we can get the batter of them in the final. The way our bowlers bowled in the first match, this match is a wake up call for them and the fielding unit. I think we gave them 15-20 runs extra in the fielding and we'll work hard on that before the final.
Sowmya : "This match has made women like me sit & watch till the last ball. Surely, the women's game has grown leaps and bounds!!!! "
BRIJESH GAUTAM: "At last after the long lockdown and no bollywood release, we got 'Selman' and 'Deol' in action!!"
Sriram: "While thesr two teams deserve to be in finals you got to feel for Velocity! Poor scheduling and they are out. BCCI hopefully looks at that and see their mistake"
Parishi : "This game is an answer to all those criticising the women's game for lacking enthusiasm and power hitting .... went right down to the wire. One poor game should not form such baseless opinions. Hopefully we can have another cracker of a match in the final."
Ecclestone, Trailblazers' bowling hero walks out. Her team needs four to win off one ball. Supernovas have to keep it under that to try and make the final
taken at cover! Yadav has done it. She's putting her team in the final! Deol comes down the track to try and find the off side boundary. Yadav pulls her length back. Deol goes for the shot anyway. She has to reach way outside off. She doesn't have the timing. And once she's caught she buckles over. She believed she could do this.
steps out and slaps a full toss to the left of the sweeper. That boundary they need isn't coming
Sriram: "@Rishi - while i agree Aussie and English stars would have added a lot of quality its harsh to say these games lack the buzz. Within the limitations these girls have exceeded expectations. But for 1 game the rest have been of good quality cricket"
down the track to turn a flighted ball into a full toss, but she loses her shape as he hits to long-off
steps out and slices the ball out towards long-off
Monsy: "This tournament may have lacked a few things but quality definitely isn't one of them. Excellent display of athleticism by the ladies! "
Mini conference between Kaur and the bowler.
goes for the sweep, gets an inside edge and it wanders away through vacant fine leg. That's the fifty partnership. Could be a match-winning one.
Supernovas need to defend nine off six balls to make the final. If they can't, it'll be Trailblazers vs Velocity. (Sorry about the net run rate error and thank you all for pointing it out!)
steps away but Selman follows her. Sharma is able to flick a near yorker out between deep midwicket and long-on for a couple
swipes at a full ball on off stump and sends it out to deep midwicket
Rishi: "Got to admit that this tournament has lacked buzz and quality due to the absence of the Aussies and Englishwoman. Would have loved to see the likes of healy, devine, lanning play "
swings a full ball out to long-on. She's looking for a second. Kaur's throw comes in. She has to dive. She makes her ground with Selman not collecting the ball. Tense stuff!
yorks her and she's desperately disappointed that the ball didn't ricochet off her pads and onto the stumps.
Moves around the wicket now. Supernovas need to defend 15 off 10
over point! There's no one in the deep! This is outrageous batting. The amount of clarity she has with so much pressure she's facing. She backs away to create room. She wants to create room because she wants to hit that gap and once she gets the chance, she does not hold back. Deepti Sharma is bossing it
Supernovas need to defend 19 off 11 balls or they're out of this and Velocity are in the final.
slogs it away! She bowls length. She bowls length with the game on the line and Sharma heaves it to the left of deep square leg. This could be a hugely telling blow. Mithali Raj and her Velocity team must be on the edge of their seats
Here is Selman, Supernovas' best bowler today
Supernovas need to defend 23 off 12 balls to make the final.
it's short again, she's on the pull again! Outstanding batting by Deol - and against the player who usually keeps her out of the Indian side
goes so far back and across to pummel a short ball over midwicket, well to the right of where the fielder in the deep was.
slaps to the sweeper
she's bowling sliders to the left-hander and legbreaks to the right-hander. Sharma is unable to hit it past the bowler
comes down the pitch and slices a slow, pulled-back-in-length, legbreak to the sweeper
shortish and outside off, slaps it to long-off
Supernovas need to defend 34 in 18 balls to make the final. And here, finally is, Poonam Yadav. It looks like she's the designated death bowler today
inside out drive over cover.... and she's nearly caught! Rodrigues comes running off the boundary and dives forward. Both hands. She looks like she has it covered but it dies on her. Great effort from the fielder. Gave it absolutely everything and prevented the boundary, which was the worst case scenario there
sweeps squarer this time and again she has the boundary riders working hard.
