swung away into the leg side, Arlott's cameo has seen the Phoenix win by three wickets!
Rockets vs Phoenix, 27th Match at Nottingham, Women's 100, Aug 13 2021 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Phoenix won by 3 wickets (with 6 balls remaining)
Many thanks for joining us. Hop over to the men's game that is starting very soon. Until then, you've got action from Lord's for company.
Are the Phoenix alive in the competition? You bet. What a comeback this has been. Rockets nearly had it in the bag and were in sights of the second spot. Then that seventh-wicket stand between Burns and Arlott helped turned it around in style. Not a thriller by any means, but it was still a very competitive game.
Erin Burns is the Player of the match: "Yeah, we knew this was a must-win game for us. The season was on the line, there was little bit to do, so to get one against these guys who well and truly beat us last time is nice. It's difficult to keep up form, it's new format, but we knew the total we were chasing. Izzy hit a few into the wind, that helped. We've got some solid hitters in the line-up, and it's nice to know that. The experience has been fantastic. The facilities are amazing, it's great to play on No. 1 ground in front of amazing crowds."
gift of a delivery! Full toss and she's heaved that into the gap at deep square. Easy-peasy
dropped! This was absolutely smashed back. Oh, dear. Jangling nerves
dragged down, she rocks back and pulls to deep square
works it to deep square
gets well forward and pushes to cover
swept straight to deep backward square leg! This was nicely tossed up on middle and leg, Burns went for the glory hit, almost as if she forgot there was a fielder there but she may have done enough to secure a win.
width and she beats the infield! This is a slower length ball, she makes room and unfurls a lovely cut, the point fielder misfielded to concede the boundary. How frustrating?
slower and fuller, defended back
beats the infield with a scorcher of a cut! Too short, she made room, waited and whacked it away
pushes this full toss to sweeper cover
skiddy length ball on middle and leg, tucked to short fine
works it down to long-on as they jog the single
its now down to under a run-a-ball. Gets underneath the flight and swings this wide of long-on
chipped but falls short of cover
hammers this pull into the gap at deep square
picks the gap! Beats the fielder at short fine. Poor ball, short and angling in, all she had to do was help it on its way
hit hard but straight to long-on
works it gently into the leg side, behind square
bunts it back past the bowler
