It's four but it's in vain Pretorius cuts it away for four, but its moot as Phoenix grab the win!
Phoenix vs Fire, 12th Match at Cardiff, Men's Hundred, Aug 13 2022 - Match Result
8.45pm A heart-breaking third consecutive loss for the Welsh Fire, as they grab defeat from the jaws of victory, courtesy some excellent death bowling from Kane Richardson and Tom Helm.
Despite losing a couple of early wickets, Tom Banton and Sam Hain put the Fire in control, with David Miller continuing after they fell. Yet, Richardson and Helm were able to concede only eight runs in the final two sets to win the game.
Kane Richardson, Man of the Match, Birmingham Phoenix: I don't really know [how I did that]. All you can do is hang in the game - Benny Howell and Tom Helm deserve a lot of credit. The opposition did very well, we hung in there and got a character-building win. We'll look back on this game and admit that we didn't do well with the bat, so it's encouraging that we can win from there.
Moeen Ali, captain, Birmingham Phoenix: It was good - the pressure was on them all the way through. I felt Livingstone was doing such a good job, we didn't need Imran Tahir, and the pacers did a great job. We knew we had to take the pace off in the final two overs - and Kane and Helm bowled brilliantly.
He can't do it! Miller swings wildly but Helm sends in a good delivery, cramping Miller for room and he can only manage to flick it towards deep mid-wicket.
Wow! Miller decides against a run as he cuts it towards the fielder at deep square leg.
Swing and a miss! Pretorius goes big and misses, but Miller has already gambled, scampering through for a quick single.
Pretorius to face the ball, with Miller at the other end
It's out! Slow, back of a length, and he skies it straight to the fielder at long off. Miller crosses over, but it's irrelevant as the new batter has to face the ball.
It's going to be Tom Helm with a final set.
What a set from Richardson, dragging the Phoenix back into the game!
Length, at the stumps and he pulls it towards the fielder at deep mid-wicket.
Another one! Super stuff from Richardson as he goes with a slower ball once more, angling outside off with Miller swinging and missing again.
Oh this is good bowling! It's short, slower and Miller cannot read the disguise and swings and misses!
Slower ball, attempted yorker and he digs it out towards long on
Swing and a miss! A peach of a slower ball from Richardson, as Cobb misses it outside off entirely
Richardson back into the attack.
Short, well outside off and he drives it towards Moeen in the covers, whose misfield allows the batters to grab a second run.
Short, outside off and slapped back towards long off
Slower, outside off and Miller has to check himself, driving it towards long off
Short, well outside off and cut away towards deep mid-wicket but even Richardson's throw from the deep cannot prevent the second
Slower, following the batter making room down leg, and nudged towards mid-wicket
Tom Helm is back into the attack
An excellent 20 balls from Howell, as he goes only for 12 runs with one wicket.
Short, at the body and defended back towards the bowler
