Cameron Bancroft's patient century and a stand of 172 with his captain Adam Voges helped Western Australia to a significant first-innings lead over Tasmania after two days of the Sheffield Shield match at the WACA Ground.
After a poor conclusion to the Shield last summer, Bancroft shored up his place by grafting to 129 in 268 balls, and did not depart until the Warriors had moved well beyond Tasmania's inadequate 215. The left-armer Sam Rainbird bowled most successfully for the Tigers, and snared Shaun Marsh for a duck amid his return of four wickets. But Nathan Coulter-Nile added quick runs in the closing overs of the day to stretch WA's lead to 102 runs by the time stumps were drawn.
