Western Australia captain Adam Voges was within touching distance of a 17th first-class hundred at stumps on the third day at the WACA, as his Warriors edged ahead of Queensland after conceding first-innings points. At the close of play, Western Australia were 3 for 182 in their second innings, with Voges on 90 and Shaun Marsh on 32, and their advantage was 35, leaving them plenty of runs to score on the final day to have any chance of victory.
Luke Towers, the mid-match replacement for the bereaved Marcus North, fell for a golden duck and Cameron Bancroft (38) and John Rogers (22) both made starts but failed to convert. Earlier, the Bulls had resumed on their overnight total of 3 for 255 and added 146 for the loss of their final seven wickets as they built a healthy first-innings lead.
Luke Pomersbach started the morning on 137 and moved on to 159 before he was caught off the bowling of Michael Hogan, who finished with 3 for 69. James Hopes chipped in with 50 as Queensland extended their lead, but six points will remain up for grabs on the final day with both sides still in the running for an outright victory.
