Ricky Ponting: Today was the best game we have played. Today was perhaps the most complete performance, having lost the toss. We had the Sunrisers on the back foot. Rohit went for the kill with captaincy. We have won 8 out of out last 9 games. Not sure if there has been X-factor. We have had good even contributions to all players. I think all the hard work we have put in is reaping dividends. We are relieved to have qualified and you can't take anything for granted. A couple of teams have had wash-outs and we have strung some wins. Pandya has a lot of talent. He is one of the fearless young kids. And you have seen him on the field. He is a live wire. He has a bright future down the track. He has got great instincts on the game. He is the first one on the training track and perhaps the last to leave. I guess I have enough experience to help him work on the finer aspects of the game. I came in and told the boys the way I wanted them to train and compete. In the first few games, we did not seize key moments and the boys understood. It is not about me, Jonty Rhodes and Shane Bond. It is about the 11 players on the field. We have found a way to win every close game. It was frustrating . I thought if this coaching job was meant for me. I try to find ways to challenge them as individuals. The determination and desperation from the boys has been great for us coaches to watch. Parthiv and Simmons have got us great starts. And today was no exception. I guess we tend to play the Mumbai pitch well. We have to turn up on Tuesday and play our best cricket against Chennai.
Mitchell McClenaghan, Man of the Match: Obviously it was a must-win game. We have put a lot of preparation into this game. We have perhaps played out last 10 games as our last. No matter, whether I play for a club, Mumbai or back home I give my best. I thought Mali bowled well and Vinay. The spinners were also impressive. It is going to a be awesome. It is a fortress for us. It will be a big match against Chennai.
Rohit Sharma: It has been a great journey. We have had a mixed season. I am glad that we could pull it off and get into the playoffs. As a group, the first six games did not go well. But we were positive and it was good to see the boys take up the challenge. You can't afford to make too many mistakes. We had to bring the best out of each individual. I can't ask more after the first six games. This game was like a final for us. It was a clinical performance right from ball one. Going back to Wankhede and playing in our fortress is special.
David Warner: Disappointing way to finish the tournament. Losing me and Shikhar early, we did not give enough to the bowlers. Obviously, we found ourselves towards the end of the tournament. We worked hard right till the end. The crowd has been fantastic and hopefully we turn our fortunes around next year.
11:05pm: After an impressive bowling effort, Simmons and Parthiv got Mumbai Indians off to a strong start. Simmons then fell to Karn at the doorstep of victory but it only mattered little as Mumbai aced their chase, sealing their playoff spot. What's with Mumbai and peaking in big games? This is the sixth season in a row that they have made the playoffs.
RCB will face RR in the Eliminator.. This also means curtains for Kolkata Knight Riders.
babu: "Last year MI lost 5 games in row were in bottom of table but end up in top 4 and this years again they were bottom of the table and end up in top 4."
Varad: "This is the highest first wicket partnership for MI this year..."
TNR: "David Warner dropping the v kohli catch was a turning point in hindsight."
Sadaf: "Run rate of RCB is better than MI .........but why MI go ahead in Points table" --- On the basis of more wins
