9.04pm Another one chalked off in style for England. They are dormie-two in their four-match series. Hard to see an Ashes-style comeback for New Zealand here. From Miller, Alan, Ranjith and the team, good night! It's back to the women tomorrow. I'll be down at Chelmsford for the second T20I against Sri Lanka. See you there.

8.58pm Jonny Bairstow is player of the match: "Great team performance and for the boys to take ten wickets ... bit of swing early doors here but we grafted through the first bit and it got easier. The partnership between Harry and I was a bit of a matchwinner. We were due a bit of a partnership, he's playing well at the moment.

On Atkinson: "We've seen the qualities for Surrey and Invincibles. Raw pace is scary, four wickets on debut is a huge confidence boost, he took everything in his stride. The first of many caps for him."

Tim Southee: "Not ideal... off with the ball, which makes it hard for the batters. Brook and Jonny grabbed the momentum and ran with it, we know we've got to be better in all three areas. Milne from the bottom end was exceptional, showed the rest of us what was working. A number of our guys are reasonably young, we'll dust ourselves off and come back in a couple of days' time."

Jos Buttler: "Special to see guys making their debut, for Gus to bowl in the fashion he did is brilliant. Crucial, he's on an upward curve, to get him in and around the dressing-room, making friendships, getting to know the coaching staff, is important. Harry played brilliantly. A lot of noise around [World Cup], credit to him for how he's handling it. He played brilliantly."

8.57pm Time for the presentations. For all England's dominance, to lose your last five wickets in 12 balls is quite the denouement.

8.52pm So, after a 205-ball game on Wednesday, and England women's 102-ball-per-side match at Hove last night, we have a 203-ball denouement to the second T20I. The Hundred vibes are strong with this autumn international series! What an introduction though for Gus Atkinson, 4 for 20 in 2.5 overs on debut. Hot heat, too hot for NZ to handle. England are 2-0 up and it's been deeply one-sided so far.

Atkinson to Ferguson, OUT

splat! Atkinson cleans up with England's best debut figures in T20Is! Full, fast, a low full toss maybe, but it's hot and straight, and No.11 has no answer! Ferguson goes for a wipe across the line, gets nowhere near it. Game over!

Lockie Ferguson b Atkinson 0 (1b 0x4 0x6 1m) SR: 0

Mark: "New Zealand have been disappointingly weak so far, although they have had minimal preparation for this series."

W
Atkinson to Southee, OUT

walks to the off-side and thumped on the pads! Up goes the finger but Southee reviews. Outside the line? I reckon it's hitting off either way... yep! Struck in line, off pole would have gone tumbling if that back leg hadn't been in the way!

better contact on this one! Deep in his crease, biffing across the line, picked up off the hips and carrying the ropes at deep midwicket!

Atkinson to Southee, 2 runs

yanked off the back foot, is this two in two? No, lands just wide of deep midwicket as Southee can't get hold of his pull

W
Atkinson to Seifert, OUT

hits the pitch hard, launched high in the air! Seifert swings for the hills but Atkinson's heat is too hot to handle! A swirling chance to Buttler, armed with the gloves maybe but has to work for that one as the ball plummets at pace, not far from where it started. Almost done now!

Tim Seifert c †Buttler b Atkinson 39 (31b 4x4 0x6 52m) SR: 125.8

What do you do as a captain at 95 for 7? You turn back to some raw heat!

Rashid to Milne, OUT

reverse sweep, ninja hands from Moeen! Milne nailed the shot, but it was too close to slip - who was only there as a result of England's dominance. Moeen just watched the ball off the blade, allowed his hands to give with the ball as it travelled hard to his right. And clung on superbly!

Jacks to Santner, OUT

Change of angle, fired through a wild swing to leg! Jacks comes round the wicket, Santner heaves with the line into his pads, but makes a mess of it, as the ball makes a mess of his stumps. Route One cricket, and this contest is ceasing to be. First T20I wicket for Jacks
