shovels the ball into the legside to win the match!
Knights vs Leinster, 18th Match at Dublin, PRO T20, Jul 29 2022 - Match Result
Leinster won by 6 wickets (with 58 balls remaining)
Balbirnie has become the top scorer for LEL in T20s with 791 runs, going past Simi Singh's 756
This is the lowest match aggregate (193) involving Leinster & Knights in T20s
A very comfortable chase in the end for the Lightning, guided by a wonderful half-century at the top from Balbirnie, the Knights bowlers couldn't create any pressure.
A quick fire 28* off only 14 balls from Harry Tector, kept the momentum going once Balbirnie fell. It took under 45 minutes for the Lightning to chase the Knights total down.
The Lightning always knew that they had to chase the target down within the 16 overs, didn't matter how many wickets they lost along the way. Which means that they pick up the five points for the win and pip the Reds for the title.
Barry McCarthy has been named the player of the match for his best every List A T20 figure, seeing that this is his club ground, will go down nicely with the fans in the ground.
Well done to the Lightning for claiming the title and it won't be long until the trophy is presented to the team, I'm sure that they will get a good cheer from the fans that are in the ground today.
