David Warner has broken the record for most catches by a fielder (35) in IPL for DC, going past Shreyas Iyer's 34
11.45pm That's it for tonight then. CSK have all but ensured progression, but one more win will make sure they finish in top two. That's what they will be after. See you for the next match. Thanks for joining us.
11.40pm Ravindra Jadeja is the Player of the Match, and he says: As a spinner, it feels great if the ball is stopping and turning. Because we practise here, we know what length and what pace to bowl. That is our home advantage. When I bat at 7, the crowd is disappointed and chats for Mahi bhai. Imagine if I bat higher; they will just wait for me to get out.
11.35pm MS Dhoni says, and this is not verbatim: It turned a lot in the second half. Our spinners use the seam more than other bowlers. I wanted the bowlers to bowl their best deliveries but not go looking for wickets. We can still do better as a batting unit. There were a few shots you are better off avoiding on this pitch. There were a couple where the execution was not right; we can live with that. Good thing is, Moeen and Jaddu got to bat. As we get closer to the last phase, everyone has a few deliveries under their belt. My job is to hit a few deliveries. Don't make me run a lot. Happy to contribute whatever deliveries I am getting. That is how I am practising as well.
11.25pm Deepak Chahar says it was a slow track so he was not looking to bowl fast. He was slowing it down to try to swing it. He says their score was a par score, but the powerplay was crucial and their great powerplay turned the game in their favour. Chahar also says he is not a 100% fit but is trying the best he can for the team.
11.20pm David Warner says, and this is not verbatim: Losing three wickets (in the powerplay lost it for us). This is the fifth or sixth time we have lost a wicket in the first over. And it was us throwing our wickets away. The run-out. That was a very gettable total. We just have to start well and have one of our batters bat long. Then there were fo0ur overs in the middle overs when we couldn't even rotate the strike. You can be conservative, but when you hit a wide half-tracker to cover... It was there to be hit. If good balls get you out, it is different. We just need to hit those wide half-trackers better.
11.15pm Easy win in the end for CSK. This is the night CSK went old-school. Got a slow pitch, batted first, assessed the conditions, had the depth to take the right risks at the right time, and then a huge variety in their bowling to defend superbly. With the win, CSK favourites to make it to the playoffs. DC have one foot out of the tournament now despite that late charge of four wins in the last five. This might just have knocked the wind out of their sails.
Kuldeep Yadav comes out to face one ball
finally gets one on target. A slower ball at 130ks, totally flummoxes Lait, and the length ball cannons into the middle of middle stump
misses the yorker as he follows him, and Lalit manages to get bat on the high full toss for four through backward square leg
bouncer, ramped away over backward point for four more
short of a length, into the ribs, pulled away off the hip for four through long leg
full and straight, struck to long-on for one
another wide, and Dhoni collects this by his shoe laces
wide length ball. Too wide. Half-volleys Dhoni. A bit of a painful take for him
Last over. Pathirana to bowl it
wide full toss, past the bat. Another dot
he has got away with the top edge but he has been run out. Yet another slog, gets a massive top edge, which falls in no man's land behind the bowler, but Ripal is at the non-striker's end while Aman has not reacted. Moeen has a shy at the striker's, and catches him short
slower ball, swings hard at it, gets a thick edge over short third for one
full and wide, drilled straight to long-off for one
wide yorker, just outside the blue line, but not called. DC not interested in a review
full, on-pace, sliced to deep point for two
Deshpande to bowl the 19th. They need a four a ball now
those are unlucky runs for CSK. Another wicked yorker from Pathirana, takes his toe even as he tries to save them, and then ricochets away from Dhoni for four leg-byes
Aman Khan comes in
lovely deception. Slower ball, 132ks, and Axar is early into it even though the length is right in the slot. It is just too good. Axar ends up checking the shot, and is caught at wide long-on
nearly a yorker, driven down to long-on for one
yorker this time, dug out down the ground for one
Axar is batting beautifully here. You have to be really good to pick on a small error in length, and he lofts him over extra cover
slides this down leg side for a wide
