short, bouncer and the batsman allows it go through, wide not called and Kolkata have won with some ease here.
KKR vs RCB, 38th match at Kolkata, IPL, Apr 28 2012 - Ball by Ball Commentary
So that is it from me, Suneer Chowdhary, for the night, I will be back with you tomorrow for the two matches. Hope you had a good evening following our commentary!
Presentation:
Gautam Gambhir: Look, it was just one of the days when things go right, the way the pair of Kallis and McCullum batted was simply superb. And then we bowled well as well. If the team batting first can get to 190, it just shows that the wicket was really good. Credit to the entire team the way they played. (Pommie Mbwanga, hosting the presentation, points out that Gambhir was being too modest)
Daniel Vettori: We can always look back at the dropped catches but you also look back at the innings Gambhir played and doff your hats off. We now go home for a week, two vital games coming up and will want to win those two matches.
Gambhir is the man of the match as expected.
An excellent innings of 93 from Gautam Gambhir helped Kolkata through to 190 on a supposedly slow track. There were quick 40s from Brendon McCullum and Jacques Kallis too. On the other hand, Gayle got 86, but there were no 40s from the others. In fact, no-one else crossed 20 for Bangalore and in the end, that proved to be the difference to go with the fact that Kolkata bowled brilliantly.
edged and it has been given out, caught behind. Outside the off-stump and Gayle wanted to go for the drive, takes the edge and McCullum takes a good catch.
drilled to the cover fielder. He has 86 to his name.
pitched up and swung away straight for a four! The Orange Cap has changed hands.
slower one and he swings it hard, misses and it hits him on the inside of the thigh.
Gayle needs one more run to take the Orange Cap
full toss and driven to the covers for a single.
and that is the third six of the over! Power hitting as you would expect as well, and I think Bhatia tried to push the ball up to the bat this over, instead of the short of good length he was bowling.
and that has been deposited again into the long-on crowds. Wonder where were those shots earlier?
full-toss and the sleeping giant has woken up finally. Drilled through the covers for a four.
That is a Gayle special, needed one hand to swing it over long-on for a six. That really went deep into the crowd.
pitched up and drilled to the covers. No run.
slows it down, floats it up and it is swept away for a single.
Narine's gone for 11 in his four overs. That is the most economic this year in a four-over spell, equalling Umesh Yadav's record.
Vettori tried to play it inside out, Narine slowed it down and he could only manage to chip it away to the off side.
pitched right up and driven to long-off for a single.
well bowled yet again, turning away from the batsman, again fails to read him.
slog swept away by the captain to deep mid-wicket for a single. It is over 30 now.
bowled him! Gone off a quicker one. He was on the back-foot after seeing it was a shorter one but yet again, he fails to read which way was it going to turn and it goes through his defences.
nudged away to the leg side for a single
shorter from Kallis and that is short too, tries to pull it away but can get it only to square-leg for a single. Gayle's only jogging now, is there some fitness issue?
and suddenly a poor ball, and even poorer keeping. Down the leg side, gets a feather, on the bounce to the keeper who misses it.
