a hat-trick it won't be but Bangalore won't complain because they've upstaged Punjab! He cuts hard to point
RCB vs Kings XI, 24th match at Durban, IPL, May 01 2009 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Quite an amazing turnaround! Bangalore looked out of it when Yuvraj and Goel added 70. It happened again when van der Merwe struggled with the dew and bowled one nightmare over. But the last two overs went for just eight and that made the difference.
The shell shocked Punjab players shake hands with their opponents who looked absolutely chuffed. They needed this win badly. They now jump to 5th place and both teams are tied on 6 points. Punjab are marginally ahead on net run rate.
A lot of you have mailed saying Boucher had knocked off the bails before Sanga was actually bowled. I guess it got lost in the heat of the moment. I need to see another replay of that before I write anything. We all remember the Haddin incident!
Here's the presentation:
Yuvraj is the Man of the Match: "We didn't get enough partnerships and Bangalore bowled really well. Not a difficult wicket but they're getting slower. Can't blame the pitch."
Kumble: "We really backed our bowlers. Roelof guided us with the bat. Had Yuvraj been there for another 5 overs the game would have been over. Gripping the ball was tough because of the dew. We didn't expect it to be this hard. The intensity was brilliant in the field."
That's it from us. We've been treated to a really gripping game. Thanks for your company. Bye for now.
Will we witness 2 hat-tricks in a single match?
timber! He fires in a fast yorker swinging in, Chawla chases it and gets a thik inside edge which flattens his offstump
Praveen gets away with a low full toss! Pathan stays at the crease and tries to club him over the sight screen but he strikes the ball off the bottom half of the bat and Kohli makes no mistake at long-on
superb change of pace, he swishes and meets thin air
take that! Irfan Pathan gets on his knee to a full delivery and square drive with brute power wide of deep backward point
Praveen jams in the yorker outside off and the batsman cannot dig it out
This is exhilarating stuff! Tension.... 13 off 6 balls, Preity looks really worried now
driven hard down the ground and an excellent save by Kohli at wide long-on saves the team two precious runs
attempts a reverse sweep and he misses
steps down the track and Kumble drops it short, he scoops it to deep point, there's hesitation for the second run
makes room and cuts to the off side
look at Kumble celebrate! He slips in the googly and drops it a bit short, Sanga makes room and tries to slap it somewhere but he fails to read the googly and loses his middle stump
drops it a bit short and he swings and the ball just misses the top of the stumps
Apparently the dew is starting to work against Bangalore
pushes it to long-on and they call quickly for the second run and Sanga makes his ground, the throw was just wide of the bowler
comes down the pitch and the bowler fires a high full toss, he swings and fails to make proper contact
full outside off and jammed to cover
another bad delivery down the leg side, had the batsman got bat on it it would have disappeared for four
rank bad delivery and van der Merwe is peeved with himself! Full toss down the leg side and Pathan bashes it past short fine leg, oh well!
appeal for an lbw! He fires it down the leg side and Boucher thought it struck him in line with the leg stump, the ball beats him and runs away for four, leg byes signalled
Irfan Pathan walks in.
now there's a twist in the tale! Jayawardene gets on his knee and tries to slice it high down to deep backward point but he ends up splicing it down to Kallis at backward point
30 to get off 18 balls. Will those two fours in the last over cost Bangalore? Here's van der Merwe (sorry for that error..he he)
he fetches that from wide outside off and places it to deep square-leg
