And with that, Rohit heads off to collect the series trophy with his team. A fantastic afternoon's entertainment. From Miller, KK, Venkat and the team, thanks and see you for the ODIs on ... Tuesday?! Good grief...

6.30pm The Player of the Match is Reece Topley for his game-changing 3 for 22 in India's chase. "Some great knocks today, happy to receive this. Isolate every ball, some batters are set, some aren't set, come up with a plan that will restrict runs or get a wicket. We were never that far away, an unbelievable knock on their side but we had to believe. I was speechless by some of the shots, in awe some of the time to be honest. Looking forward to relishing the rest of the summer."

The Player of the Series is Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who isn't here to collect his award

... so here's Jos Buttler "Good fun, more like what we're used to seeing with the bat. The wicket didn't have some of the pace we sometimes here but it was an incredible knock from Yadav, one of the best hundreds I've seen. Guys backed their yorker, a bit of lateral movement. Delighted for those guys. Mo was really keen to bowl [the penultimate over], a selfless character and keen to go with him."

Rohit Sharma: "It was a fantastic chase, to show that fight is something we are really proud of. SKY loves this format, wide range of shots, unorthodox, never lets the tempo lose, grown as a player, going from strength to strength. Certain plans we wanted to execute but those guys put us under pressure through the innings. Partnership in the middle put us on the back foot, on a ground like that you back yourself but we came up short.'

"We don't want to be a team that sits on laurels,' he adds, with the World Cup now 98 days away.

6.26pm The presentations will be coming up shortly.

Dhaval : "The fight India showed after being reduced to 31-3 inside the powerplay was incredible. Still feel we need Kohli in the side for a big stage like the WC. His experience and expertise will be crucial."

Faisal : "India managing to remain in the game even after being 34/3 after the PP is a positive, but the lack of support from the other end was worrying.."

6.15pm So handshakes all round. India take the series, but England claim the consolation win for a 2-1 series scoreline, and in a match of 413 runs in precisely 40 overs. Can't ask for much more than that!

So in the end, Dawid Malan's 77 from 39 balls trumped Suryakumar Yadav's 117 from 55, but mostly because of the relative contributions from those around the main men. Aside from Shreyas Iyer's 28 from 23, no-one else made more than 11 for India, and that was down to the breakthroughs at the top, with Willey and Topley outstanding. Gleeson capped a fine first series with a gutsy death over, and there was an impressive display of wristspin from Ravi Bishnoi too. Fun and games all round!

Barath: "Smart captaincy by Buttler. Let Moeen bowl with 5 fielders outside the circle and trusted Jordan to manage with 4. "

Afeef: "Livingstone's 103 vs Pakistan at Trent Bridge in 2021 and Suryakumar's 117 vs England at Trent Bridge in 2022 - 2 magnificent T20 knocks while chasing that couldn't get their teams over the line."

Jordan to Ravi Bishnoi, OUT

inswinging yorker, back goes off stump! That's an exceptional way to finish a fine game. Jordan's second, and England hold off the SKY surge to win by 17!

Jordan to Ravi Bishnoi, 2 runs

rocks back, blatted towards the cover sweeper, who tumbles well to gather

Prithvi : "Jordan scored crucial runs in the 20th over of England innings and now back to save crucial runs in 20th over of Indian innings. " What an allrounder

W
Jordan to Harshal, OUT

another yorker, an attempted scoop, decent contact but Gleeson is well placed on the 45 and swallows the looping chance!

Harshal Patel c Gleeson b Jordan 5 (6b 1x4 0x6 13m) SR: 83.33

No extras and it's done

19.3
Jordan to Harshal, no run

yorker again, swinging onto the toes, that's an excellent ball at any moment, not least now

Praveen Kumar: "65 off 59 is all what others managed and yet we had a game till 19TH over. Take a bow SA Yadav."

19.2
Jordan to Harshal, no run

low full toss, whipped on the up to the leg side. No single this time, Harshal backs himself to take down the sixes now needed

19.1

yorker, dipping on the full length, clubbed to long-on and Harshal is back on strike

Richard Gleeson 4-0-31-1

So, 21 to win, with Jordan set to bowl with one too few outfielders, due to England's tardy over-rate. Or 20 runs for the Super Over...

Abhijato: "Ah well, it was good while it lasted. Perhaps even the best T20I hundred I've ever seen!"

4
Moeen Ali to Harshal, FOUR runs

hoisted up and over the leg side! Square leg is up, and that just dribbles away as he gives chase...

The end of a magnificent innings, but India will rue the lack of support at the top ... or will they? Seven balls to batter 25!

18.5
W
Moeen Ali to Suryakumar, OUT

toe-ended to Salt at long-off! Is that the game! Hitting up and through the length ball, wide line again, but for once Yadav's clean hitting let him down, a well judged take, completed with a tumble, and now it might be slipping away

Suryakumar Yadav c Salt b Ali 117 (55b 14x4 6x6 88m) SR: 212.72

attempted nurdle to the leg side, trying to sweep through the gap. Can't beat the field

18.3

Moeen Ali to Suryakumar, FOUR runs

mashed through backward point! Have England gone to spin too soon?

England have about 30 seconds to finish the over or they will be penalised an out-fielder for the final over

too much width, can't connect, and it's another wide

Right, here's the pay-off. It's time for Moeen Ali. With runs to defend at this stage. How many can he leave for the 20th?

17.6
1
Gleeson to Suryakumar, 1 run

another yorker, tucked to the on-side, they take the single so Yadav keeps the strike, but Gleeson has done the needful at the moment it most mattered

17.5
1
Gleeson to Harshal, 1 run

misses the yorker this time, but the low full-toss is straight enough to be cut off at long-off... just the single. How does Yadav play this last ball?

17.4
Gleeson to Harshal, no run

another yorker, pinpoint again, cracked hard to short cover

Harshal Patel is the next man in. Three balls in this over

17.3
W
Gleeson to Jadeja, OUT

yorker, gone! Jadeaj reviews, but this might be optimistic as I think that hit him on the full... dipping right into the toes... in fact, it might have been millimetres short of his boot, but no bat involved, so all on ball tracker... which is taking an eternity... but that's very out! Splintering the stumps from a middle-and-leg point of impact, and this gamble to go to the main men early is currently paying off

Ravindra Jadeja lbw b Gleeson 7 (4b 0x4 1x6 7m) SR: 175

Gleeson to Jadeja, SIX runs

pumped over the bowler's head! Misses his mark by inches this time, a low full-toss and Jadeja pumps with clean lines over long-off!

17.1
Gleeson to Jadeja, no run

beautiful yorker, over the wicket, speared at the left-hander's off stump and dug out back to the bowler
