Rashid five routs Hampshire

A superb all-round performance from Adil Rashid ended Yorkshire's winning drought, by taking 5 for 41 in Hampshire's second innings at Basingstoke . Having scored an unbeaten 117 on Thursday, Rashid ripped through the home-side's tail, securing Yorkshire's first Championship win of the season by an innings and 22 runs. Hampshire began the final day on 75 for 2 and Michael Carberry continued his good form, scoring 70 before being caught behind off Ajmal Shahzad. Liam Dawson (50) and Sean Ervine (48) gave Hampshire hope of battling it out for a draw with their fifth-wicket stand of 94. But the moment Ervine was run out by Joe Sayers, Hampshire collapsed, adding just 21 for the last six wickets. Rashid bagged five of the six with Gerard Brophy snaffling three catches in addition to a stumping, completing the rout by bowling David Griffiths.

Alastair Cook and Ravi Bopara both found form to help Essex chase down 241 in their five-wicket win over Middlesex at Lord's. Dawid Malan stroked an elegant and unbeaten 87, and with contributions from Ben Scott (44) and Gareth Berg (29), Middlesex declared on 229 for 7 after an agreement between the captains. This set Essex a generous 241 to win in a minimum of 45 overs, and they began confidently with Mark Pettini and Cook putting on 100 in 21.2 overs. Pettini fell to Tim Murtagh, claiming his seventh wicket of the match, and Cook also departed for a neat 66, but Bopara - whose Test form has dipped so alarmingly in the Ashes - ensured Essex were focussed on the win with a slick 52 from 61 balls, although he wasn't always convincing. As the required run-rate rose, Ryan ten Doeschate - so dangerous in one-day cricket - exploded with 40 from 20 balls as Essex marched to their target with two overs to spare.

James Tredwell took his second five-wicket haul of the match to spin Kent to an emphatic 238-run win over Northamptonshire, who were bowled out for 90 in their second innings at Wantage Road. Kent, resuming on 220 for 2 overnight, crashed quick runs in order to set Northamptonshire a testing total, and they did so through Martin van Jaarsveld who finished unbeaten on 100. Northamptonshire, chasing an unlikely 329, lost early wickets when Simon Cook removed Stephen Peters and Rob White but, as in the first innings, it was the introduction of Tredwell - now the second-leading wicket-taker for the season - which turned the match Kent's way. He he spun through Northamptonshire's middle-order to record match figures of 10 for 100, the third time he has taken 10 wickets in a match. Kent head to Twenty20 Finals Day in high spirits.

Jigar Naik stroked his maiden first-class ton to help Leicestershire deny Derbyshire on the final day at Grace Road, the match drifting to a draw. Leicestershire resumed on 154 for 2 but soon lost HD Ackerman and Matthew Boyce to give Derbyshire hope of forcing a result. Further wickets tumbled as Leicestershire slipped to 224 for 7, but James Taylor and Naik combined superbly in an eighth-wicket stand of 195 to help deaden the match. Taylor was bowled by Greg Smith six short of a hundred but Naik reached three figures and remained not-out on 109.
