Scorecard
Adam Wheater cracked 43 from 33 to help guide England Under-19s to a convincing five-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first of two Twenty20 internationals at Sleaford.
England were set a testing 155 but eased to their target with two full overs to spare, thanks to contributions from most of the middle-order after the early loss of James Vince, the highly-rated opener, who fell for 5 to Abu Jayed.
Jack Manuel and Jos Buttler quickly made amends with a second-wicket stand of 65, with Buttler lifting two sixes in his 33. Both fell in quick succession to Shabbir Rahman, a 17-year-old legspinner, but Wheater was on hand with a brisk and unbeaten 43 which included six fours.
Amit Majmumder was the mainstay of Bangladesh's innings with 74 from 45. Azeem Rafiq, the allrounder who shot to prominence in 2008 owing to his eligibility to play in England, picked up 2 for 34.
