Scorecard
Sam Northeast continued his fine form with another century, as England eased to an 84-run victory over Bangladesh in the opening ODI at Grace Road.
Northeast scored 123 off 129 balls, and combined in a solid opening stand of 113 with Jake Manuel, who hit 54 on his debut before being caught by Shabbir Rahman off Nur Hossain. Northeast's ton followed up his two hundreds from the Test series as he continued to be the key man in the England line-up.
Although the innings fell away slightly from 222 for 2, Bangladesh were still faced with a tough target and Chris Wood made an early breakthrough, bowling Saikat Ali for four. If it hadn't been for a couple of useful knocks from Asif Ahmed (51) and Alauddin Babu (40 not out), the match would have been even more one-sided.
The visitors never really looked like threatening England's target, and David Payne finished off proceedings removing Shohag Reza for 18 to end a final-wicket stand of 58.
