Day five, first Test versus India

Five in a row!

Photograph courtesy of Jack Atley/AllSport Thanks to another typically disciplined effort from our four bowlers we were able to celebrate another lunchtime victory here in Adelaide. With five consecutive Test victories and room for improvement, the feeling within the camp is very exciting. We are playing great cricket and are well on the way to reaching our preseason target of an undefeated Australian summer.

The only thing that went wrong today was a dropped catch from our superstar leg-spinner and vice-captain Shane Warne who was visibly disappointed by his rare mistake. In typical fashion, Flemo laughed off the error of judgment, even though it robbed him of his second hat-trick in Test cricket. By three o'clock this afternoon all was forgotten as we sung one of the best "Underneath the Southern Cross I stand..." It is amazing how a victory can eliminate any personal disappointments that may have been experienced.

There has been a lot of talk about the form of Mark Waugh over the past few days. Having been through the same media scrutiny recently I can sympathise with what he is going through. With the team playing so well, I truly believe it is only a matter of time before 'Junior' comes good with the bat. He is possibly the most gifted player in the team who is just as likely to come out on Boxing Day and smash another elegant century like he did three Test matches ago in Brisbane.

Amazingly, Mark's frame of mind is fantastic. While Steve is known as "the iceman" for his constantly cool exterior, 'Junior' might have to go down as the "iceman II" as he doesn't seem to be overly concerned about his perceived form slump. In fact like any champion, he is confident that runs are around the corner. He will probably get them when we really need them in the next two Test matches.
