The things we get up to make the mind boggle
After giving you the definition of the Australian cricket team 'daktari'
award last week, I thought it might provide a little more humour if I
shared a few photos of your heroes as you have never seen them before.
Call it male bonding, call it what you like, but our social committee of
Warne, Gilchrist and Hayden decided last week on a different way to
enjoy a night out with the team. The plan was for every one in the
touring party to buy a piece of headwear for one of their team-mates.
There were no limits, and as you can see, some of the boys got off
lighter than the others.
Glenn McGrath looks menacing with a new ball in his hand but I don't
think I have ever seen him looking this spooky thanks to captain Steve
Waugh's taste in headwear. Matty Hayden looked more like a goofy Indian
chief while our physiotherapist Patty Farhart, standing in for Errol
Alcott, combined both daktari and headwear. Nice look, hey?
Imagine the Australian cricket team eating dinner in a Napier restaurant
looking like this. It was a sight to remember and a memory to behold.
The things we get up to make the mind boggle; I guess it's good clean
fun if nothing else.
