Wisden obituary
Colonel Dudley MacNeil Evans, MC, who died at Petersfield on December 18, aged 86, was three years in the Winchester XI and in the last, 1904, played for Hampshire against Sussex and made 53, besides clean-bowling C. B. Fry. He played one match in 1905 but as he went into the Indian Army was not seen again until 1911, when he played a good deal for Hampshire and did much useful allround work. Against Yorkshire, going in No. 7, he made 64 out of a total of 142, and his analyses included 6 for 81 against Derbyshire, 5 for 63 against Gloucestershire, 9 for 145 in the two innings against Worcestershire, and 5 for. 56 for H. D. G. Leveson-Gower's XI against Oxford University. He played no first-class cricket after 1911. He came of a notable cricketing family, being a brother of W. H. B. Evans and a cousin of A.J.
