Charles Urie Peat, was in the XI at Sedbergh as a fast bowler and was an Oxford Blue in 1913 who also played briefly for Middlesex, and left an estate valued at £225,116. Tory MP for Darlington from 1931 to 1945, he led a campaign to salvage 100 million books for the nation's war effort in 1943.
