Born on January 20, 1880, at Suffield, Norfolk. He was killed in action near Arras, France, on April 11, 1917, aged 37, while serving as a Captain in the Household Battalion. He was educated at King's School, Canterbury (1896-7-8), and Peterhouse, Cambridge. He played in 10 matches for Hampshire in 1901 and 1902, scoring 154 runs and taking 9 wickets. He also played for the Household Brigade XI.
