A bright prospect, Aneesh Kapil has the potential to develop into a decent allrounder with his skiddy seamers and dashing middle order batting. Released by Worcestershire at the end of 2013, he is rebuilding his career at Surrey.

Kapil played for England Under-19s at the 2012 World Cup, having made his List A and first-class debuts the season before. In 2012, he played four times in the County Championship and took 3 for 17 and scored 41 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. But the following year he failed to kick on and played only eight games for the first team with a top score of only 42. He was released by Worcestershire at the end of the season.

He was offered the chance to train with Surrey and impressed enough to be registered for second XI matches in 2014. A solid showing earned him a Surrey debut against Kent in the Championship and three appearances in the Royal London Cup. After more second XI runs, including centuries against Kent and Northamptonshire, Kapil was rewarded with a full-time contract.
