At Chennai, March 21, 2010. Kings XI Punjab won after eliminator over following a tie. Kings
XI Punjab 136-8 (20 overs) (I. K. Pathan 39, Yuvraj Singh 43; M. Muralitharan 3-16); ‡Chennai
Super Kings 136-7 (20 overs) (P. A. Patel 57, M. L. Hayden 33). MoM: J. Theron.
Punjab snatched
a lucky win in the "super over" decider, but in reality this match was a lame affair, both teams'
middle orders being woeful. Chennai needed only 16 off the final 17 balls, and then ten off the last
over - but Albie Morkel and Ravichandran Ashwin struggled against Irfan Pathan, even though he
seemed to be inviting the drive. Rusty Theron delivered an excellent super over - Chennai had
managed only nine runs in five balls, when they lost their second wicket - before Yuvraj Singh hit
the winning runs off Muttiah Muralitharan.
