Ebrahim, Williams to leave Tuskers?

Matebeleland Tuskers could lose their star batsmen Dion Ebrahim and Sean Williams after local media reported that the pair are at loggerheads with coach Robin Brown.

Ebrahim is expected to join Harare-based Mashonaland Eagles, who won this year's Logan Cup, while Williams could be on his way to Midwest Rhinos.

Speculation stirred after Ebrahim, who returned to domestic cricket this season after spending a number of years abroad, pulled out of Tuskers' last Logan Cup match away to Southern Rocks. Local media suggest Stanley Staddon, Tuskers' CEO, had a recent meeting with Ebrahim, which left the player disgruntled and seeking options to leave the Bulawayo-based side.

Meanwhile Williams has had a chequered season, with injury and indiscipline limiting the amount of cricket he's played. He was left out of Zimbabwe's squad for West Indies last month after telling the national selectors that he did not know of his whereabouts when in fact he was recovering from injury.

He is one of Zimbabwe's most promising batsmen and has played 41 ODIs but was omitted from Zimbabwe's squad World Twenty20, despite being named in the provisional 30-member squad and impressing for Tuskers in Zimbabwe's domestic Twenty20 competition. He is reportedly convinced that playing under Brown is inhibiting his chances of international selection.

Another controversial player Mark Vermeulen is also likely to be missing from the Tuskers' books because of his erratic behaviour. He has not played in the Logan Cup for this year after he damaged property in the changing room following a bad umpiring decision in a Twenty20 game. The sponsors are said to have asked the Tuskers team management to drop Vermeulen, as they had to pay for the damage in the changing room and Vermeulen was duly asked to leave the squad.
