Former England fast bowler Chris Silverwood made his Logan Cup debut for Mashonaland Eagles against Matabeleland Tuskers at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Silverwood, who has been engaged by the Harare-based franchise as a player-coach, arrived in Zimbabwe last Saturday. He opened the bowling for his new team with former Zimbabwe international Douglas Hondo.
Silverwood bowled 13 overs and ended up with 3 for 47 runs as the Eagles bowled out the Tuskers for 237. Silverwood was described by locals as "nothing spectacular" but maintained a good line. He was outshone by Admire Manyumwa who took 5 for 41 runs.
The Tuskers seemed set for a bigger score when Bonaparte Mujuru (71) and Dion Ebrahim (87) put on 154 for the second wicket before Manyumwa carved through the innings.
Silverwood, 34, was released by Middlesex at the end of the English season.
