ZCU Media Release - Unruly Behaviour at Queens Club on 23rd September 2001

ZCU Media Release

September 28, 2001

Text size: A | A

Attention has been brought to the Zimbabwe Cricket Union of incidences of unruly behavior which allegedly occurred during the course of the One Day International match between Zimbabwe and South Africa, which took place at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo on Sunday 23 September 2001.

We have called for a full investigation into the matter and directed that reports be filed with the Board of Zimbabwe Cricket Union as soon as the investigations are complete.

Thereafter, following consideration of the reports, appropriate action will be taken.

Our preliminary enquiries indicate that a security base was in place at the ground to deal with such incidences and was manned by marshalls and a security company working in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

It is the policy of the Zimbabwe Cricket Union not to countenance any unacceptable behaviour and to deal with the offenders in an even-handed manner, regardless of their race, colour or creed.
