Wisden overview
A compact left-hander from Bulawayo with a cool, unflappable temperament, Gavin Rennie bats at the top of the order or in the middle and is equally proficient off front and back foot. His elder brother, John, also played for Zimbabwe, and history was made in a one-dayer in Pakistan in 1996-97 when John flew out as a replacement, enabling Zimbabwe to field three different sets of brothers (the Flowers and the Strangs were the others). This was uniquely repeated in a Test at Harare in 1997-98. Gavin is a supremely athletic fielder with great hands, and is also a charming individual and a devout Christian. (Geoffrey Dean)
