Bulawayo Athletic Club was Zimbabwe's second Test venue, but the match against New Zealand in October 1992 was badly hit by the first serious rains in almost two years (rarely, one reporter observed, has rain been cheered so enthusiastically). Inadequate covering (some of the tarpaulins were stolen on the eve of the game), a lifeless wicket and dire attendances (1000 came to the first day with a few hundred on each subsequent one) meant that by time Test cricket returned to Bulawayo it was to the nearby Queen's Sports Club.
