Australia have been fined for their slow-over rate during their game against Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge, a defeat that ousted them form the ICC World Twenty20.
Chris Broad, the ICC match referee, found the side one over short of their target at the end of the Sri Lanka innings after time allowances were taken into consideration.
According to the ICC Code of Conduct players are fined 5% of their match fees for every over lost while captain is fined double of that. Consequently Australian players lost 5% of their match fees and Ricky Ponting lost 10%. The team cannot appeal the fine.
