Katherine Brunt, the England fast bowler, has said her team will be looking to avenge their disappointing showing at the World Twenty20 when they meet New Zealand later this month.
England headed to the Caribbean as defending champions but crashed out in the group stages, while New Zealand had a disappointment of their own, losing to local-rivals Australia in the final.
Brunt, who was named England women's cricketer of the year last month, thinks that both sides will begin the opening Twenty20 match at Chelmsford on June 29 with plenty to prove but backs England to be inspired by home conditions during the three Twenty20 games and five-match ODI series.
"They got to the final and we didn't even get to the semis, so we'll be trying to prove a point and they'll be trying as well," Brunt told ECB TV. "Having lost the last three finals in a row, they've got a lot of heartache.
"They are going to want to come out here and show that they can beat us. This is our home soil and we love playing cricket here and we want some revenge as well."
The fourth ODI is scheduled for Barnsley, Brunt's home town, and she is eagerly anticipating the chance to perform in front of her friends and family. "I have been waiting for this fixture for a long time," she said.
"We don't play enough games up north. I would love to play at Headingley - it's one of the dreams of mine. To have it in my home ground is going to be fantastic, especially on the weekend. I just hope as many people turn up to watch because I think it will be a fantastic.
"We've played a few county matches there but to pull on the England shirt with my whole family watching me play - it may be the only time they'll get to see me play - would mean a lot to me. I just hope that I get picked that day."
