India's first major cause for concern on their tour of the West Indies came in the form of Ramesh Powar, the offspinner, who has been ruled out of the first two one-day internationals due to injury.
Powar, 27, twisted his ankle during practice yesterday and did not take part in the warm-up match against Jamaica at Montego Bay. There was a further scare with news that Sreesanth, the young fast bowler, was not fully fit and was a doubtful starter to the series. Along with opener Robin Uthappa, Sreesanth was left out of the warm-up match against Jamaica.
"Ramesh Powar will struggle to make the final XI, but we will monitor his situation every 48 hours," Rahul Dravid told reporters. "As for Sreesanth's condition, it will be monitored regularly."
If both miss out, India are likely to go into the first game with the same combination that took on the Jamaica XI at Montego Bay.
