Second One-Day International

Australia v Bangladesh

At Cairns, August 3, 2003. Australia won by nine wickets. Toss: Bangladesh.

Khaled Mahmud won the toss and decided to bat, but his side were outclassed again, despite a useful start to their innings. This time it was Australia's spinners who applied the brake: Hogg and Lehmann (who was playing in his 100th one-day international) took three wickets apiece with their contrasting slow left-armers. Australia sprinted to their target of 148 in only 89 minutes, at better than seven an over. Martyn, who missed the Tests in order to allow the finger he broke in the World Cup to heal completely, belted 92 not out from only 51 balls; his half-century came from just 22 deliveries.
