PAKISTAN v INDIA 1954-55

At Peshawar, February 12, 13, 14, 15. Drawn. The scoring was slower than ever, only 638 runs being obtained in four days. For the first time India finished on top, but once more there was little to choose between the sides. Pakistan made only 129 for the loss of six wickets on the first day, the batsmen again finding the leg-breaks of Gupte troublesome. India owed nearly everything to Umrigar, who obtained his country's only century of the series and alone showed any enterprise in the match. Although going ahead for the loss of only four wickets, India could not force home their position, and Pakistan went in again no more than 57 behind. As many as four batsmen were run out in the India innings. Pakistan looked to be in trouble when they lost their fourth wicket at 70, but Maqsood Ahmed and Imtiaz Ahmed saved them with a stand of 83. India needed 126 to win, but only an hour remained.
