PAKISTAN v INDIA 1954-55

At Bahawalpur, January 15, 16, 17, 18. Drawn. Again slow scoring prevented a decision and not even three innings were completed in the match. India fared badly after winning the toss and despite a good innings by Manjrekar, seven men were out for 107. Improvement came from the later batsmen, particularly Ramchand and Tamhane who added 82. Hanif and Alim-ud-Din began with a stand of 127 for Pakistan, who took the lead with six wickets in hand. Hanif gave a fine display and scored his first century in Test cricket. Umrigar, not normally recognised as a leading Test bowler, sent down 59 overs and took six wickets. Going in again 77 behind, India were never in danger of defeat. Roy and Manjrekar put on 123 for the third wicket.
