Third One-Day International

Pakistan v Australia 1998-99

At Lahore, November 10. Australia won by six wickets. Toss: Pakistan. International debut: A. Symonds.

The Australians maintained their form in brilliant fashion by successfully equalling the highest run-chase in one-day international history. They cruised past Pakistan's imposing 315 with seven balls to spare. Pakistan had also been the losers when India scored 316 to win at Dhaka in January 1998. The bat so dominated the ball that, for the first time in a one-day international, four batsmen made centuries - Ijaz Ahmed and Yousuf Youhana for Pakistan, and Gilchrist and Ponting for Australia.

Man of the Match: R. T. Ponting.
