†ENGLAND v WEST INDIES 1986-87

At Adelaide, January 24. England won by 89 runs. Although England failed to make the most of an opening stand of 121 between Broad (96 balls) and Athey (110 balls) after West Indies had won the toss, two early wickets by DeFreitas set up a convincing win in good batting conditions. The decisive moment of West Indies' reply came in the 27th over when Broad sprinted twenty yards at wide long-on to snuff out a menacing innings by Richards (64 balls). Logie and Dujon added 44 in nine overs, but Emburey ended hopes of a recovery with four wickets in thirteen balls, three of them to catches in the deep.

Man of the Match: B. C. Broad. Attendance: 11,178.
