The Prudential World Cup 1975, second Group A match

NEW ZEALAND v EAST AFRICA

At Birmingham, June 7. New Zealand won by 181 runs. Turner (two 6's, sixteen 4's) dominated New Zealand's innings and repeatedly split the field with a succession of glorious drives. With his Worcestershire colleague, Parker, he added 149 for the third wicket in twenty-three overs. Nana, who dropped a hard return from Turner when he was 16, bowled his left-arm spin with commendable accuracy. The task was obviously well beyond East Africa and only Frasat and Zulfiqar Ali managed to combine survival and scoring. Turner was Man of the Match.
