A right-hand opening batsman, Lendl Simmons represented West Indies in the 2002 and 2004 Under-19 World Cups and made his first-class debut six weeks after his 17th birthday. He won his first full cap in December 2006 - making a second-ball duck - after a productive domestic season in 2005-06 and a successful A-team tour of England later in the year. On that trip he thumped an unbeaten 108 off 122 balls in a one-dayer against the touring Pakistan side. When England toured the Caribbean in 2008-09, he demonstrated his credentials in the longer version of the game, with a career-best 282 against England A at St Kitts. He recieved his Test cap against England at Port-of-Spain in March 2009 and made 24 and 8. An excellent fielder and an occasional wicketkeeper, he is a nephew of former Test cricketer Phil Simmons.
