William Perkins is an aggressive right-hand opener from Trinidad & Tobago who sparked during the 2006 Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka, where his tournament top-score of 133 off 150 balls - deservedly taking the Man-of-the-Match award - helped his side down USA. He only managed 40 runs in four games after that, but impressed enough to make his Twenty20 debut for T&T when they finished second to Guyana in the inaugural Stanford 20/20 tournament. That led to a spot in West Indies' provisional 30-man squad for the World Twenty20 in South Africa although he was cut from the final few. Perkins was part of the T&T squad that lifted the trophy in 2008 in the second edition; his 33-ball 50 was key in T&T defeating Jamaica in the final. Aged 21, he was handed his international Twenty20 debut in a seven-wicket win over Australia at Kensington Oval in June 2008, scoring 9. He gave T&T rousing starts during the Champions League in India. Perkins is also a part-time wicketkeeper, but batting remains his prime focus.
