Four days of the 2010-11 Ashes have sold out in Sydney and Perth and the opening day of the first Test in Brisbane is nearly full after two weeks of ticket sales. Less than 100 general reserve seats remained on Friday afternoon for the series start at the Gabba on November 25, but there is still plenty of space available for Boxing Day in Melbourne.
The first three days in Perth, which hosts the third Test, are full along with the opening day of the final match in Sydney. James Sutherland, the Cricket Australia chief executive, said it was important for supporters to get in quickly to avoid missing out.
"There was ticket sales hysteria around the 2006-07 series and while we haven't quite reached those levels, ticket sales remain strong," Sutherland said. "There are very few tickets remaining for the opening one or two days of play across all Tests."
Seats went on sale two weeks ago for Australian Cricket Family members and were released to the general public over the past week. England holds the Ashes after their 2-1 win last year and are looking for revenge after losing 5-0 in Australia in 2006-07.
