ZIMBABWE v NEW ZEALAND 1992-93

At Harare Sports Club, November 8

15-Apr-1994
At Harare Sports Club, November 8. New Zealand won by four wickets. Toss: Zimbabwe. International debuts: E. A. Essop-Adam, U. Ranchod.
For the first time in history a one-day international interrupted a Test match as the Zimbabwe authorities wanted to maximise revenue on the Sunday. New Zealand won it to take the series but it was an acrimonious game: Grant Flower was run out by Patel while backing up at the non-striker's end, after several warnings, and Crowe spoke to umpire Kantilal Kanjee after three run-out appeals were turned down.
Zimbabwe's top four made fifties on a superb one-day pitch, with the Flower brothers' opening stand of 124 runs a record for the country in limited-overs internationals. New Zealand's openers countered with 98 before Crowe and Rutherford ensured victory with 130 for the fourth wicket. Crowe, though still affected by his illness, added an 88-ball 94 to his 140 in the Test the previous day.
