Australia v India, 2015-16

Wisden's review of the second Twenty20 International, Australia v India, 2015-16

15-Apr-2017
At Melbourne, January 29, 2016 (floodlit). India won by 27 runs. Toss: Australia. Twenty20 international debuts: S. M. Boland, N. M. Lyon, A. J. Tye.
Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. But Australia's revolving door, which threw out a vastly different team for this second match, merely resulted in a script that followed the first: India - with no changes - scored prolifically to set a formidable target that proved far too much. Sharma and Dhawan zoomed along, before Kohli doled out further punishment, offering little relief for Australia's hastily assembled attack. They had made six changes, fielding three format debutants, and only one man batted in the same position as in the previous game. That was Finch, who alone overcame an economical and incisive all-round performance by India's bowlers, though he received some support from his latest opening partner, Shaun Marsh. But, when Finch hobbled off with a hamstring twinge after being run out, it sparked a collective limp, as India claimed the series. Dhoni's two stumpings took him to 140 in all internationals, beating Kumar Sangakkara's record.
Man of the Match: V. Kohli.
