Vedam Hariharan, the former fast bowler who played for Kerala and Karnataka, has been appointed coach of the Kerala squad for the 2007-08 domestic season. His term is from October 16 to December 12 [Ranji Trophy], and then from February 10 to March 4 [Subbiah Pillai Trophy].
Hariharan, who is accredited as a Level III coach from the England and Wales Cricket Board, will leave his present position as coach of the Glasgow Academy. Hariharan has 18 years of coaching experience, and has worked in England, Australia, Scotland, Ireland, Malaysia and India.
Hariharan, 53, has played 42 matches at the first-class level, taking 114 wickets at an average of 32.06. His first assignment as Kerala coach will be a four-day match against Vidarbha in Nagpur from November 3. Kerala are in the Plate league for the upcoming Ranji season.
