Tabarak Dar appointed Temporary National Coach for ACC Trophy Elite campaign

The Hong Kong Cricket Association has appointed Tabarak Dar as Temporary National Coach for the upcoming ACC Trophy Elite Cup 2010 which will be held in Kuwait from 31 March to 9 April 2010. Hong Kong are the defending ACC Trophy Elite champions, having won the title in Malaysia in 2008.

Assuming the role until the end of the tournament, Tabarak Dar is the HKCA Development Officer and former Hong Kong Captain and will be replacing outgoing coach, Afzaal Haider.

During his tenure as Temporary National Coach, Afzaal Haider achieved success with the Senior team who made it to the Cup final at the 2009 Hong Kong Cricket Sixes but could only manage a 10th place finish at the ACC Twenty20 in UAE. Most recently he coached the Hong Kong Under-19 team that finished a creditable 14th place at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2010 played in New Zealand, achieving victories over Afghanistan, USA and Canada - all higher ranked teams.
