Sri Lanka v West Indies 1999-2000

At Sharjah, October 13 (day/night)

15-Apr-2001
At Sharjah, October 13 (day/night). West Indies won by three wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka.
On a lifeless pitch, West Indies made a meal of overhauling a modest target, eventually winning with four balls to spare thanks to a gritty unbeaten 74 from Adams. It was their sole success in the tournament. Though Adams claimed the match award, West Indies' victory owed as much to Ambrose, who bowled his ten overs in a single spell at a cost of just five runs. Only his erstwhile colleague, Phil Simmons, had bowled a full quota of overs for fewer runs, against Pakistan at Sydney in 1992-93. Useful, if more expensive, support came from the occasional off-spin of Campbell, who removed de Silva as he looked to increase the tempo.
Man of the Match: J. C. Adams.
