Kemar Roach, the West Indies fast bowler, will miss the team's second Champions Trophy warm-up match against Sri Lanka on Sunday after injuring his right ankle.
West Indies coach David Williams said daily assessments would be made on the bowler's ankle and hoped he would recover in time for the side's opening game against Pakistan on Wednesday.
Roach, who has taken 13 wickets in five ODIs, injured himself while fielding a ball on the boundary during the first warm-up against South Africa and managed just four overs in the match.
"He is a wicket-taker, he has demonstrated the ability to get wickets with the new ball as well as later in the innings," Williams said. "He is a key member of the team and we are hoping to go into the first match at full strength."
Herschelle Gibbs also injured himself in the same match while taking evasive action at the non-striker's end to avoid a straight drive from Graeme Smith. He will miss South Africa's opening game against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.
