A solid 134-run fourth wicket stand between Hashim Amla and Jon Kent helped Rest of South Africa to reach 250 for 9 declared on the opening day of the three-day match against South Africa A at the University of Pretoria Oval, today.
After winning the toss, Rest of South Africa's captain, Adam Bacher did not hesitate to bat first on an overcast morning. Bacher lost his wicket early, caught behind for one by wicketkeeper, Thami Tsolekile off Albie Morkel's bowling. But it was Hashim Amla and Jon Kent who stole the show, moving their team's total from 72 for 3 at lunch to 206 when the latter departed for 71. Amla reached his ton off 181 deliveries, hitting 13 boundaries in the process.
