1. Kumar Sangakkara had cruised to a classy 45 by the 12th over, but his threatening innings ended with a swipe to midwicket, and Bangalore were able to rein in Punjab from 84 for 2.
2. After the controversy in the build-up to the match, Yuvraj showed what a dangerous batsman he can be with some clean striking. But in the 18th over, with Punjab on 149, he swung a full toss straight to midwicket and let Bangalore breathe a little easier.
3. With two runs needed each ball in the final four overs, and spearhead Brett Lee still to bowl two, Punjab held the edge. Uthappa, though, blitzed 25 off the 17th over from Lee to bring the required-rate from 12 to 7.66, and the contest was essentially over.
