Peter McIntyre announces retirement

Veteran Redbacks leg spin bowler Peter McIntyre today announced hisretirement from all levels of cricket.

Veteran Redbacks leg spin bowler Peter McIntyre today announced his retirement from all levels of cricket.
McIntyre has played 97 first-class matches for South Australia and Victoria. He made his Test debut at Adelaide Oval against England in the 4th Test in 1994/95 and also represented Australia against India in Delhi in 1996/97.
McIntyre has a first class bowling average of 39.66, with best figures of 6-43 and took 322 first class wickets.
"While I'm disappointed to be ending my career, it has become too difficult to mix my cricket with fulltime work, so I've made the decision that it is best for me and for the Redbacks to sign off now," said Peter.
"Cricket has been such integral part of my life for the past 20 years but I'm looking forward to having time to pursue other interests".
The 36 year old has recently been promoted to SA/NT Sales Manager for Mayne Health Consumer Products (formerly Faulding).
"Peter has made a significant contribution to South Australian cricket over the last 10 years and we thank him for his years of dedication and commitment," SACA Chief Executive Mike Deare.
